Ravens Fall to Steelers in the AFC Play-Offs

It's January 15, 2011. At 4:30 p.m the Pittsburgh Steelers faced off with the Baltimore Ravens. Both teams showed up wearing their colors proud ready for a game. Fans filled the stands hoping to see their team win. Both teams knew good and well after this game someone was going home and neither team hoped it was them.
The start of the first quarter looked good for the Steelers. With 6:18 left on clock for the first quarter Rashard Mendhall got a 1 yd run in for the touchdown. Shaun Suisham kicked a field goal and earned the extra point. Pitt leads 7-0. 5 minutes later with 1:20 left on the clock Ray Rice went in the endzone with a 14 yd run for a Ravens' touchdown. Now Baltimore decides to have Billy Cundiff kick for the extra point, which ended in success as it went through the uprights. The game is now tied 7-7. At 0:53 left the Ravens score again off a mishap fumble return by Cory Redding, toughdown Baltimore. Once again Cundiff kicks a field goal between the uprights and Baltimore leads 14-7 in the first quarter.
Now it's time for the second quarter. At 5:43 on the clock Joe Flacco threw in a 4 yd pass to Todd Heap for another Baltimore touchdown. Once again Cundiff kicks a field goal between the uprights and Baltimore leads 21-7 going into half-time.
We're back again in the second half and things started to take a turn on Baltimore in the Steelers' favor. With 9:11 left in the third quarter, Ben Roethlisberger threw in a 9 yd pass to Heath Miller for a touchdown. Steelers decide to have Suisham kick another field goal. Between the uprights it went and the score is now 21-14 Baltimore. Both teams went a while without scoring and at 1:21 on the clock Roethlisberger threw in a 8 yd pass to Hines Ward for a Pittsburgh touchdown, Suisham kicked another field goal though the uprights to tire the score 21-21 at the end of the third quarter.
By the time the fourth quarter started everyone was officially off their seats. This was becoming a close game. 12:15 on the clock and Pittsburgh decides to have Suisham kick a field goal for 3. The kick is good and the Steelers lead 24-21. Once again we see a large time withought scoring until 3:54 when Baltimore sends out Cundiff to kick a 24 yd feild goal. The kick was good and the score is now 24-24. 1:33 is left on the clock now and it looks like Pittsburgh is gonna kick, but it turns into a 2 yd run play by Mendenhall for the touchdown. The score is now 30-24 and Suisham kicks yet another fiekd goal between the uprights making the score 31-24. The fans of the Steelers were going crazy by this point. Baltimore had thrown 2 incomplete passes, then Flacco was sacked taking the ball back to 3rd and 18 where he threw yet another incomplete pass. With the Steelers' next possesion, Roethlisberger took a knee to end the game.
The final score of the game ended as 31-24 with a Pittsburgh Steelers victory. Steelers fans were going crazy, theire team was one step closer to the Super Bowl. Both teams played a good game. I know some friends and I sure hope Pittsburgh goes all the way and wins the Super Bowl for their 7th Super Bowl title. But hey, that's just our opinion.

The Final Days of Addition Man

Hey Everyone,

Addition Man had his final presentation the other day. Our presentation went great. They gave us some good advice about how to improve our game, which mostly consisted of spelling errors. Our other classmates did great as well, they really impressed me. I was so nervous abbout our presentation, but I got over my nerves and my presentation went great. I hope people will play my game and have a great time with it and maybe convert it to where its not with addition, but everything else. I think we will all want to continue this class if we are able to. My brother is coming into Globaloria next year, and he is deffinatly excited for this class. He has great plans. Well I guess I better go work on the game so it will be better than ever.

The Final Days of Addition Man

Hey Everyone,

Wow our game has made tremendous progress. From being drawn on paper to the working thing has been amazing. My team, The Lean Mean Gaming Machines, is the greatest. Dustin, our artist, has recreated the size of Addition Man many times and he just keeps getting better. Brittney, our sound person, looks for sounds for Addition Man, but I don't think we will have the time to put the sound within the game. I love working with these people, we have a blast creating our game. Addition Man will be done in a few more weeks and I'm anxious to have it completed I want my younger cousins to play it. Addition Man is exact ally what the title says. He is a super hero who saves the day by answering addition problems. Therefore, this is a fun and educational game. Our presentations are on May 12Th and the only thing I'm worried about is them not liking our game. I guess I can't help it if they don't, but I still hope they like it. Well it's off to finish the game. I'll blog again soon.

Eastern Greenbrier Middle

Hey everyone,

Sorry I haven't blogged in a while. I've either been out or too busy with our game. Well we are checking out the game plans for the student at Eastern Greenbrier Middle. I checked out the team Ryan's Robotic Robots. They have a great concept for their game, I was impressed. Their game is based on PEMDAS and it concentrates on how you should preserve water. A great game idea indeed. PEMDAS is a topic in math that kids struggle with, mainly because they work it out in the wrong order. If I was to give them any advise I would say make it more appealing, catch the players eye. For instance, when you get a question right you can earn points throughout the game, and after so many points you either earn a certificate for your score or get to watch a video of the ocean, things like that. Other than that this team is great, they have their concept down and their focus is clear. Well I better get back to work. I'll post again soon.

Our Game Presentation

Wow, so much time has passed this year. I can't believe we're almost done with the year. Our game has came a long way too. We finally brought Addition Man to life.

I say the hardest part of the game presentation for me was trying to get our demo done. That was difficult for me, because I had so many problems with the action script. As soon as I fixed one problem another one came along. We figured it out though.

The easiest part of it was creating the scenes. It was easiest, because it brought our character to life. We really enjoyed it.

Watching the 7th graders' presentation helped us get an idea on what to expect with our own. So much effort was put into our demo and presentation, we hope they like it. Addition Man is a game for kids in kindergarten to 2nd grade. We hope that when we have our game finished they will like it

I'm nervous about our presentation, because I'm worried they won't like it. I don't really know why I'm worried about it I just am. Well I guess I shouldn't let my nerves get the best of me.

Assembling Our Game

Wow this has gone by so fast it feels like just yesterday we made our bloggers and wikis now we are assembling our game. So much time has past. The fun part of assembling our game was just trying to recreate everything and get it to work. That just might have been the best part. The hardest part was remembering all the codes and trying to fix things when scenes overlapped. Who knew so much work went in to creating a simple game, yet alone a complicated one. I'm looking forward to actually having our game done. Even though it is ment for kids around 5 years old it actually looks fun now. Globaloria is a very interesting class, I hope the school keeps the grant that allows us to have it. Well I guess that's all for now, I got to get back to work.

In Memory of Jordan Wayne McClanahan

Jordan was one of the greatest friends ever. He normally always had a smile on his face. He would go out of his way to try to put a smile on ours. He was like a big brother to everyone. He was always into sports. He loved football and basketball. When I heard about him dieing I was in disbelief. I could not believe I lost one of my best friends. I could not imagine how Joseph and the family was taking it, but I figured Joseph would take it hard. Joseph and Jordan we as close as two people could get. They never had to think twice about what the other was going to do. Then the wake and the funeral was so eartbreaking, no one could bare it. We all know he wouldn't want us to cry or be upset, but it is hard to do that. So we will pull through for him, for he is in a better place. Our basketball teams for the school wear wristbands with 40 on them in momory of him. We also got warm ups for him too. Math: Fun and Games?

Hey everyone,

I know what your thinking, math is fun and games? It can't be can it? Well The answer is yes it can be fun and games. What makes it fun is learning short cuts and tricks to learn things about it. Like for order of operations we use PEMDAS, or Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally, which stands for Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, and Subtraction. Teachers can make math more interesting by just making games out of it, you know take what they need to know and fit it with what they are interested in. That's how they can make it fun. It's All About The Game...

Hey everyone,

This week has been a long and tiring one. I mean really, I had cheer practice on Monday, a game on Tuesday, basketball practice then had to cheer for the boys' game on Wednesday, and game on Thursday, and practice today which is Friday. One crazy week huh? Well Mr. Lester isn't here today and he didn't give us a blog, so he just said to look at our last 3 and write about them. Well the most recent one is about math games, which is what we are creating. Math games can actually be fun when you get them. The blog before that was about my big family and how many people where in it. My family is huge, but I'm glad it's big, because it's just more people to care. The blog before that was about working with navigation. Navigation was very confusing but it helps a lot with the game. Globaloria is one f the most fun but most challenging classes I have, but I love it. Well I guess that is all for now. Talk to you guys next week.

Math Video Games

Wow, video games that help you learn. Who ever thought of that must have been very bored or very smart, because it was a very good idea. Video games are fun and you need to learn so educational video games was a great idea. Mr. Lester had us play Transtar yesterday, the game was so addicting after you figured it out and started playing it. We can use the whole idea of being in outer space to our game since it is about a super hero who saves lives. In my opinion math games will improve math motivation. My favorite game was Transtar, because I found it fun, easy to get, and I learned alot. I really learned my transitions playing this game. My BIG Family

Hey Everyone,

Wow, it's hard to believe it's Thanksgiving already. But, I'm so glad it is, beacause Thanksgiving means seeing my very large family. Most of the time I have to go to 2 dinners. My mom's side of the family usually has the biggest dinner compared to my dad's. I have family come in from all over the place, on my mom's side my family from North Carolina comes in and on my dad's sometimes the relatives from Texas, or "The Texans" as my brother calls them, come in. I mean we have aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, brothers, and sisters all come in. There are only 2 times everyone, well for the most part, come in and it's Thanksgiving and Christmas. So, I'm always glad when this season rolls around. When I get home from school, we will start cleaning the house, so someothers can stay there, and I will start helping mom cook dinner, because it will take 2 days to cook for our bunch. Well I guess I better go.

Working With Adding Navigation

Wow, in what little time we have learned so much. Our most recent thing we worked with was Adding Navigation. Adding Navigation is like working with buttons to go to page to page, like when you click a play button it takes you to the start of level 1. It was hard that's for sure, but it was also fun. This topic is a very important, because it is 1 thing we will use throughout the entire game. I am so glad we are learning this, because it is manditory for us and our game. Addition Man uses a lot of buttons so we really need to pay attention and understand this topic. We hope the kindergarten students that are going to play this game will like it. Tomorrow Iaeger is heading to Wirt County for the Play-offs. I think we can win. Because there is no pride like Cub Pride. Way to go Iaeger for make our last season a great one. With a 7-2 season we rocked Fanning Field and all the others we played on. You really have the town waiting for the score. I know I am. Keep up the good work so we can go to the next round. Educational Gaming?

Everyone knows what video games are right? Right, then you may also know they can be educational. Can you believe it, an educational video game? Yes, in fact video games are how parents and teachers are getting their students to learn. Hi Everyone,

I'm the Project Manager of the team, I guess you can say I'm good at it. I make sure everyone is working and not goofing off. Our team had some dissagreements, but not a lot of them. We dissagreed about our topic, the colors, and what the whole game would be about. We just solved them by talking about them one at a time. The thing that I look forward most to about making our game is just working in flash, because I want to learn how to use it more so I can teach my little brother how to use it so he can make a game of his own. The inspiration for the game is the younger kids, because nobody else really think about them, they think about people our ages. I'm so excited about finally starting our game. Out team "The Lean Mean Gaming Machines" have some really good ideas. The joy of just working with everyone is great. Globaloria So Far

Hi everyone!

Well so far Globaloria has been going great so far. We had a little trouble working in flash at first but we have it worked out so it's all good. Playing to learn has been an excellent experience. It really gave us something to look forward to. Something to challenge us with. We have been messaging our people to give them suggestions so I think that is going well. What this year I'm hoping to accomplish is designing a game people will actually want to play to help them learn. I have found some resources to help with things. Like for sounds I went to http://www.findsounds.com/ and for images I went to http://www.google.com/. When we get in our groups, which I hope we do soon, I think I would but better off putting the game together, because I'm not much of a artist so I hope someone else is. I love a challenge so this class is perfect for me. The part of Globaloria I find fascinating is the fact that we can make video games overall. What I have learned about this class that no one else has is that you must be patient and hard working, because this class isn't easy. I liked playing the games from Playing to Learn, not to sure which are my favorite just yet, but I'm sure I will soon. Well I guess that's about it.

Safe or Not Safe: Internet Usage

Internet safety is a progressing problem now a days. People are getting careless about what they put on the Internet. You must be cautious. Internet is a very valuable resource to use to learn, but not if you use it in the wrong way.Don't post, add, or upload anything you don't want anyone to see, because they will see it. Did you know that some fights in school are cause at home by talking on the computer and holding it as a grudge. So don't say anything that you might regret in the long run. So there is no point to fight. Another thing you can do to keep safe is don't publish any big information about yourself. Stuff like your name and about you is fine, but your address keep it to yourself. You don't want anyone something after you or send anything to you that is wrong now do you? So keep that stuff to yourself. I guess the Internet is both safe and not safe. It just depends on how you look at it. It's All About Math

Hey Everyone!

It's me again. Well all of you know that math is my favorite subject in school. So obviously I like math. I like it, because I love being able to solve problems different ways. Plus I like a challenge and math is one of the most challenging subject in school. But hey that's just my opinion. My favorite lesson in math is probably multiplication. It is just so easy and so much quicker that addition so I guess you can say I like to do things quick and easy. My least favorite thing in math would most likely be measurements. I get it but I don't if you know what I mean. Measurements are knowing how to convert different lenghts to the same length in a different term. Examples are like feet to inches and yards to feet. Another Day

Well today is a new day at school. Just like any ordinary day here I'm sleepy. I'm sick today which makes me even more tired. I wish I could feel better. But anyway I'll live. Game Day

Hey everyone!
It's me again. I figured you may want to know what our score was last night. Well we won. The final score was 18-20. Now Iaeger High School has their 1st home game tonight against the Pikeview Panthers. I'm going with my best friend. We hope we win. I will post tomorrow after the game. I'm just glad its finally football season. Football is my favorite sport to watch but to play it's basketball. Well that's all for now. Bye

My Globaloria Expectations

Hi!
I'm Alexis and I'm in the 8th grade Globaloria class. I'm so excited to find out who and all is on my game design team. I really hope I remember how to design them after this class so my little brother and I can design one together. I really want to make a fun game that's educational that when you play it you don't know your learning. I can't believe I made this class. But I'm thankful that I did. I hope the rest of my day goes well. I have 4 more classes today. Then, after school I have cheer practice. And tomorrow is our 1st game against Oceana. I hope we win.
